Queen and U2 were leagues better than anyone else that day even if the rest of U2 were pissed off at Bono for pissing around for so long during Bad that they didn't get to play Pride.

No wonder it launched both bands into new realms of mega-stardom.

Loved the way Quo opened the show...I think they were slightly of their tits.

Re: 30 years ago today ...
I think Quo were always off their tits back then!

They probably lost out a bit by opening it. If they had been on later, then people would probably talk about their set more than they generally do.

I was in Detroit so I saw the US gig. All I really remember was Madonna opening the show.

Dire Straits played a good set, I think they were touring at the time and had to rush off to another concert.

I can remember Bono prancing about and getting fans on stage, it was 30 years ago today, I realised he was a cunt

IMO Freddie stole the show

I just don't get this fucking Queen love-in that permeates on this board.

Mercury was an embarrassing goofy cunt, with a whiny operatic voice, who minced around to soft fucking rock.

Utter shit.

I agree about Queen. They started out as a decent rock group, but then Freddie cut his hair and became a professional woofter. Radio Gaga my fucking arse.

Looking back I find it surprising how little interest my friends, family and I took in Live Aid.

Was Tina Turner in it? I think I remember flicking the channels and seeing a bit of that.

Same with royal weddings and stuff.
